Community Building

Boston Public Health Commission
In partnership with the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) Project RIGHT has been contracted to develop numerous programs that focus on substance abuse, eliminating health disparities, infectious disease control, neighborhood wellness and BPHC’s Violence, Intervention and Prevention program.

Community Development

For more than a decade Project RIGHT has been influential in the direction of the Blue Hill Avenue Initiative Task Force. We anticipate groundbreaking on tens of millions of dollars of investment in housing and commercial development between 2008 and 2012.

Electoral Advocacy Campaigns

Through the RIGHTLEAD™ campaign Project RIGHT provides support and coordination for volunteers, neighborhood groups and our membership. We develop electoral advocacy and systematize voter outreach within our community. We utilize voter identification technology and intensive, coordinated door-to-door organizing to cultivate voter participation. Our campaign goals are:

  • To assist resident leaders and member organizations to use current and  create new electoral and political tools to advance our community  revitalization efforts
  • To increase voter education, voter access and voter mobilization
  • Build powerful and effective networks that advocate for justice and equity  on the city and state-wide level in the areas of:
  • The Adult and Juvenile Justice Systems
  • Youth Violence and Violence Prevention
  • Youth Development, including:
  • Leadership Development
  • Youth Voice
  • Fundraising
  • Public Service

Grove Hall Problem Properties Task Force
Project RIGHT, local and state officials collectively review problem properties on a monthly basis in order to identify illegal use, public safety concerns, and quality of life concerns within distressed or abandoned residential and commercial properties.

Leadership Development
Project RIGHT continues to facilitate the regularly scheduled meetings of over seventeen neighborhood and tenant associations and crime and block watches. Meetings support these groups enriching the quality of life within Grove Hall.

Al’s and Mike’s Basketball League
A year round basketball league that works primarily with high-risk youth from Grove Hall. Through this effort, young people are provided positive opportunities to being on the street without supervision and enables a collaboration with city agencies and community-based organizations to provide intervention and prevention services.

Grove Hall Youth Council
A core group of 15 to 20 youth meet regularly to participate in decision-making and advocacy efforts for Greater Grove Hall youth services, athletic and academic activities, crime and public safety issues, and other vital youth issues and agendas. The Grove Hall Youth Council currently serves as an advisory group to Project RIGHT, Inc.

Other Accomplishments

  • Provided assistance to over 2,000 residents and groups in resolving  municipal, commercial and residential housing development, public  safety, licensing and health issues
  • Increased resident involvement in 11 neighborhood and tenant-based  organizations by more than 20%.
  • Administered and awarded approximately $300K as Grove Hall’s US  Department of Justice Weed and Seed designee to agencies providing  prevention and intervention services to families within Grove Hall.
